Literally we wouldn't know where to go if I didn't look at the Yelp pics. There's no signs anywhere with the name of the place. You literally just have to recognize the staircase. It's open seating so we found a seat inside because it was a bit rainy outside. We were approached by who we thought was our waitress and she convinced us to sit outside because we weren't sitting at a real table (some customers put chairs around an end table) with the promise we'd be able to come back inside if it started raining. Not even plates and utensils. People who came after us were helped before us. We finally flagged down the same lady who seated us. She said she'd find someone to help us. A couple minutes later, someone finally came. After we finished eating our Pork Belly & Shortrib, we ran to take cover because by then the rain was coming down for a good 5 minutes. We needed to flag down a different waitress to get new waters because our waiter was no where to be found after we left the rainy table.. But we were pretty concerned when we found out the hostess at Livestock makes them at her house, brings them to work, and then is served to customers. I'm positive that person's house is not a certified kitchen because the waitress went on to say that person doesn't sell her desserts anywhere else. Ummm.. probably should've told me that before I ordered it and ate half of it!! The service definitely needs to improve and my friend and I were almost positive the food was coming from Livestock's kitchen. Then when we left & were already at home, I realized they still had my friend's credit card because he started a tab. Since our waiter went MIA in the middle of dinner and everything else that went on during dinner, we completely forgot about the card. We don't blame our waitress because she had only taken over after we already got our dessert. But, it really doesn't look good when a food establishment doesn't keep track of a customer's credit card!! What else are they doing that isn't legal!? Tucked away upstairs in downtown Honolulu above Bar 3. Tchin Tchin is a classy wine bar! Their rustic brick walls and hanging plants set the perfect tone for date nights and summer wine nights. We had a couple tables reserved out on the lanai, so we mostly remained outside. We had the Fois Gras (sp?), Cheese plate, and the broccolini. All were tasty and delicious. I think it just makes the whole experience more personable. One was a shrimp crostini and the other was venison crostini. A pile of seasoned venison surrounded by 5 crispy slices of Italian bread with a few pickled quail eggs made for a beautiful presentation. We both thought we would enjoy it because we love venison. But the wines aren't obviously available for that so it was nice of her to suggest. The snails and mushrooms good sauce. The brisket and bleu cheese sliders were really yummy. Had a charred broccolini with a tomato gremolata that was really good too. Hard to find right next to bar 3. Also those steep stairs might be a bit difficult to navigate coming down if I had been much more intoxicated. To feel like a hipster if someone wanted to go out. Kinda what you'd expect. Walk up those dark, scary stairs (keep an opened mind - be adventurous!), through The Door With No Name (see the pix for navigation guides), and be amazed. They were really helpful in getting our food and drink order in and out quickly as we had limited time. I got their stinky grilled cheese sandwich. Perhaps it was because they didn't put it on the grill long enough to warm everything inside. When I took a bite, yes the cheese was melted, but the onions? Maybe I need to go back when I have more time.. VERY VERY Classy place! We ordered the Pork Belly, Braised Beef, Stinky Cheese (grilled cheese like sandwich), & Charcuterie. Just don't go super hungry because the portions aren't huge.
